In this new role at the Royal College, Dr. Szulewski will contribute to the evolution of the organization’s lifelong learning strategy, the setting of learning standards and frameworks, research and scholarships, and partnerships. He will provide expertise to leadership on current and future learning trends and needs impacting the design of learning frameworks, policies, programs and offerings at the Royal College.

Additionally, the Principal CPD Strategist will complement and collaborate with the Learning team to continuously enhance the Royal College’s lifelong learning program to be responsive to members while also meeting the needs of partners in the broader specialist health care system.

Dr. Szulewski is an emergency, trauma, and Rapid Assessment of Critical Events (RACE) team physician. He is associate professor at Queen’s University, with appointments in both the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Psychology. He is also the program director of the Fellowship in Resuscitation and Reanimation Medicine at Queen’s University.

An internationally recognized leader in cognitive load theory, Dr. Szulewski’s research explores how physicians think under pressure and how expertise is developed and assessed in complex clinical environments. His work bridges the science of learning with the realities of medical practice, with a particular focus on resuscitation medicine.
