Michael T. Scott-Kerr, MBChB, FRCPC, died on February 26, 2023, in Duncan, B.C., at age 87. Dr. Scott-Kerr was certified by the Royal College in Anesthesiology in 1975. Born in the United Kingdom, he worked in London as a general practitioner before immigrating to Canada where he completed his residency in Anesthesiology. Throughout his career, Dr. Scott-Kerr worked as an anesthetist at several hospitals in British Columbia, including the Medical Arts Clinic in Nanaimo and St. Mary’s Hospital in New Westminster. Read more about Dr. Scott-Kerr

John Paul Fedoroff, MD, FRCPC, died on January 16, 2023, in Ottawa, Ont., at age 64. Dr. Fedoroff was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry (1990) and Forensic Psychiatry (2014). He worked at the University of Toronto as a clinical fellow in Forensic Psychiatry at the Clark Institute in Psychiatry (now the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health). Dr. Fedoroff then served as director of the Sexual Behaviours Clinic in the Integrated Forensic Program at the Royal Hospital in Ottawa for over 20 years. A professor of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa, he also served on the Royal College’s Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry Examination Boards. Read more about Dr. Fedoroff

Patricia Tyson Harvey, MD, FRCSC, died on September 2, 2022, in Dundas, Ont., at age 69. Dr. Harvey was certified by the Royal College in Ophthalmology in 1982. She obtained her medical degree from McMaster University in 1978. Dr. Harvey was known internationally for her expertise as a retina specialist and known to patients for her kindness. She was also a Royal College volunteer, sharing her knowledge and expertise on the Ophthalmology Specialty Committee. Read more about Dr. Harvey.  

Jose Adolfo Segura, MD, FRCPC, died on February 6, 2023, in Port-Daniel, Que., at age 76. Dr. Segura was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1990. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Chile in 1973. Dr. Segura worked as a psychiatrist at the Centre Hospitalier de Chandler in Chandler, Que. Kenny Richter, MD, FRCPC, died on March 7, 2023, in Côte Saint-Luc, Que., at age 68. Dr. Richter was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1986. For over 35 years, his work was focused on patients with severe and persistent mental illness, mainly schizophrenia. Dr. Richter also held a private practice in Hawkesbury, Ont. He will be remembered as a devoted psychiatrist who cared deeply about his patients. Read more about Dr. Richter

Carlos Vollinoti, MD, FRCPC, died on March 5, 2023, in Vernon, B.C., at age 77. Dr. Vollinoti was certified by the Royal College in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2011. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires in 1971. Dr. Vollinoti was an instructor in the Faculty of Medicine at Laval University in Quebec City as well as at McGill University’s CHVO Hospital in Gatineau. He spent several years as a specialist physician examiner for the Medical Council of Canada. Read more about Dr. Vollinoti.

Robert Jacques Forget, MD, FRCSC, died on January 30, 2023, in Rockcliffe, Ont., at age 83. Dr. Forget was certified by the Royal College in Orthopedic Surgery in 1972. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Ottawa in 1967. His career was dedicated to serving the Ottawa community where he worked as a physician for over 50 years. Dr. Forget is remembered by patients as a devoted physician who was always smiling and laughing. Read more about Dr. Forget.  

Peter Andrew Zakrzewski, MD, FRCSC, died on December 21, 2022, in Langley, B.C., at age 47. Dr. Zakrzewski was certified by the Royal College in Ophthalmology in 2009. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Toronto in 2004. Dr. Zakrzewski held a practice in Langley and he also worked as a staff physician at Langley Memorial Hospital. He is remembered as a talented surgeon and dedicated physician and he will be missed by family, friends, colleagues and patients. Read more about Dr. Zakrzewski.  

Duncan John Gillespie, MD, FRCSC, died on February 26, 2021, in Winnipeg, Man., at age 88. Dr. Gillespie was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1969. His career as a surgeon spanned over 30 years and he is remembered as a hardworking and compassionate physician. Dr. Gillespie taught surgery to medical residents and enjoyed passing on his knowledge. He was also a dedicated Royal College volunteer, serving on the General Surgery Examination Board for several years. Read more about Dr. Gillespie

Paul Eric Termansen, MD, FRCPC, died on March 30, 2020, in Kelowna, B.C., at age 87. Dr. Termansen was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1966. He had a private practice in West Vancouver where he cared for thousands of patients for decades. Throughout his career, he founded the Pacific Bipolar Foundation to educate and support families and individuals living with the disorder. Dr. Termansen co-founded the Crisis Centre and a suicide prevention hotline. A professor at the University of British Columbia, he also provided services to Indigenous communities in southern British Columbia. Read more about Dr. Termansen
